Reliance is not the same company as A.O. Smith, though they maintain a close commercial relationship. A.O. Smith is a massive, publicly traded manufacturing corporation that designs and builds water heaters, whereas Reliance Home Comfort is a prominent service and rental provider that distributes, installs, and services residential heating equipment. Reliance frequently purchases and utilizes water heaters manufactured by A.O. Smith to populate its rental fleet, but their corporate structures, customer service operations, and business models are entirely independent.
