Lutron is a brand that makes both traditional non-smart switches and smart switches, so not all Lutron switches are smart, but Lutron is most famous for its smart lighting control systems. Lutron offers several product families. The basic Lutron Diva, Skylark, and Maestro lines include traditional dimmers and occupancy sensors that are not smart, they do not connect to WiFi or an app, they simply dim lights manually. However, Lutron's smart switch lines include Caseta, RadioRA 2, RadioRA 3, and HomeWorks QSX. Lutron Caseta is the most popular DIY smart switch system. Caseta dimmers and switches are smart switches that connect via Lutron's Clear Connect RF protocol to the Lutron Smart Bridge, which then connects to your home network for app control, scheduling, scenes, and voice control via Alexa, Google Assistant, and Apple HomeKit. RadioRA and HomeWorks are professional-grade smart systems that are also smart switches with advanced keypads, whole-home control, and integration with shades, thermostats, and security. So while Lutron makes regular switches, when people refer to Lutron smart switches they usually mean Caseta. Lutron smart switches are distinguished from cheap WiFi switches by their reliability, excellent LED dimming without flicker, ability to work without a neutral wire in many cases, and use of a dedicated RF frequency rather than WiFi, making them more reliable than many competitors.
