Running an air conditioner while it is actively leaking water is strongly discouraged and generally not safe or advisable. Continued operation can cause water to pool further inside sensitive electrical housings, increasing the risk of short circuits, permanent motor burnout, or electrical shock hazards. Additionally, if the leak is caused by frozen evaporator coils resulting from low refrigerant or restricted airflow, running the compressor continuously can overheat and permanently destroy the compressor unit itself. It is always best to turn the cooling system off immediately, clean or inspect the drain lines, and resolve the underlying source of the moisture before turning the unit back on.
