Carrefour is fundamentally a French multinational corporation with its corporate headquarters located in Massy, France. The company was originally established in France back in 1958 by its founding members and has since expanded into a massive global retail empire operating retail networks across numerous countries worldwide. However, the brand has a presence in Israel through franchise agreements and commercial partnerships. Local Israeli companies, such as Electra Consumer Products, acquired local retail chains and partnered with the French group to rebrand existing supermarkets under the Carrefour name to serve shoppers within the Israeli market, but the parent company remains distinctly French.
