How to override LG washer door lock?

Overriding or manually unlocking a stuck door on an LG front-load washing machine involves accessing the emergency drain and release mechanism behind the lower service panel. First, unplug the washing machine power cord from the wall outlet to eliminate electrical shock hazards. Second, open the small service door at the bottom right corner, place a shallow baking pan and towels underneath, pull out the small black rubber emergency drain tube, and remove the plug to drain out any residual standing water. Third, reach inside the access opening and locate the bright orange or yellow emergency pull tab attached to the bottom of the door lock assembly; gently pull downward to release the latch.
