Therma-Tru doors are standard exterior door thickness of 1-3/4 inches thick for both fiberglass and steel entry doors, which is industry standard for exterior entry doors, providing good insulation, security, and compatibility with standard hardware. Therma-Tru fiberglass doors including Classic-Craft, Fiber-Classic, and Smooth-Star are 1-3/4 inches thick, consisting of fiberglass skins on both sides with polyurethane foam core injected between for insulation, plus wood or composite stiles and rails for strength. Therma-Tru steel doors are also 1-3/4 inches thick, with steel skins and foam core. This thickness is same as most exterior entry doors from Masonite, JELD-WEN, Pella, and Andersen, allowing use of standard entry door hardware like deadbolts and handlesets that are designed for 1-3/4 inch doors. Interior doors are typically 1-3/8 inches thick, so Therma-Tru exterior doors are thicker for better insulation and security. Some Therma-Tru doors with special fire ratings may be thicker at 1-3/4 inches still, but with additional fire core. The 1-3/4 inch thickness provides good thermal performance with R-values around 5 to 6 for fiberglass with foam core, and allows for good weatherstripping and sill integration. So Therma-Tru doors are 1-3/4 inches thick.
