How reliable are LG French door refrigerators?

The reliability of LG French door refrigerators varies depending on the manufacturing year, as older models produced between 2014 and 2020 faced widespread criticism and class-action scrutiny due to premature linear compressor failures. In response to these reliability challenges, LG heavily redesigned and re-engineered its core compressor hardware in units manufactured from 2022 onward, incorporating improved thermal management and robust valve designs to enhance long-term durability. Current-generation LG French door refrigerators demonstrate significantly improved field performance and reliability in early tracking data, though appliance repair professionals still advise consumers to maintain condenser coils properly and utilize surge protectors to safeguard sensitive electronic control boards against power fluctuations.
