Remedy Entertainment along with its partner Apogee sold the entire Max Payne intellectual property and brand rights to Take-Two Interactive for a total consideration of $34 million. This transaction structure consisted of $10 million paid directly in cash alongside 969,932 shares of Take-Two common stock valued at $24 million based on the closing market price at that time. Through this acquisition, Take-Two secured all trademarks, copyrights, characters, and underlying tech licenses associated with the franchise.
