An artesian well can last anywhere from several decades to well over a century, depending heavily on the continuous natural replenishment rate of the underlying confined aquifer, regional groundwater management, and local climate conditions. Because artesian wells rely on natural underground hydrostatic pressure to push water to the surface without mechanical pumping, their long-term longevity is vulnerable to over-extraction, agricultural depletion, prolonged droughts, and industrial water table disruption within the geological basin.
