Mosquito Squad has been in business since 2005, so about 20 years as of 2025 to 2026, making it one of older dedicated mosquito control franchise companies in United States. Mosquito Squad was founded in 2005 in Richmond, Virginia, by entrepreneur Chris Grandpre, who recognized need for professional mosquito control after experiencing mosquito problems in backyard. The company started franchising in 2006 and grew rapidly as part of Outdoor Living Brands, which also owns brands like Mosquito Squad and others. Since 2005, it has expanded to over 250 franchise locations in 35 plus states across US, providing mosquito, tick, and flea control services, as well as automatic misting systems. For comparison, Mosquito Joe was founded in 2010, so Mosquito Squad is 5 years older. Terminix, which also offers mosquito control, was founded in 1927, and Orkin in 1901, so Mosquito Squad is much younger than general pest companies but older than many mosquito-specific companies. Over 20 years, Mosquito Squad has treated millions of yards and developed proprietary barrier spray formula and misting system technology. Its long history for mosquito niche gives it brand recognition and experience, with many long-term franchise owners.
