The LiveWire project originated within Harley-Davidson as an internal electric vehicle research and development initiative that began in the early 2010s, culminating in the public unveiling of its prototype in 2014. After several years of technical refinement, the first commercial LiveWire motorcycle model was launched to the market in 2019. It subsequently spun off into an independent publicly traded subsidiary corporation under the LiveWire brand banner to focus entirely on electric two-wheeler mobility.
