You can easily determine if your door is prehung by examining whether the door panel swings directly from an integrated wooden or metal frame (jamb) that is screwed or nailed straight into the surrounding wall studs, complete with matching trim casing attached. If the door panel appears to be hinged directly into a standalone frame without visible separate jamb assemblies, it is prehung.
