To clean a Speakman shower head, you should use gentle methods recommended by Speakman Company, founded in 1869 in Wilmington, Delaware, known for Anystream technology, to avoid damaging finish and internal plungers. First, for regular cleaning, wipe shower head with soft cloth and mild dish soap and warm water, then rinse, do this weekly to prevent buildup. For hard water mineral deposits that clog nozzles and reduce pressure, use white distilled vinegar soak, which is safe and effective. Remove shower head by unscrewing counterclockwise with wrench with cloth to protect finish. Soak in bowl of white vinegar for 30 minutes to 2 hours to dissolve calcium and lime, then scrub spray nozzles with old toothbrush to remove deposits, rinse thoroughly with water. For non-removable heads, fill plastic bag with vinegar, tie around head so nozzles are submerged, soak 1 to 2 hours, then scrub and rinse. Use paper clip to clear individual plunger nozzles if clogged. Avoid harsh chemicals, bleach, abrasive cleaners like Comet, and steel wool, as they damage chrome and plastic and void warranty. Speakman Anystream plungers self-clean by rubbing. After cleaning, reattach with Teflon tape, run water. Clean every 3 to 6 months for hard water. So clean Speakman with mild soap regularly and vinegar soak for hard water, no bleach.
