An ionizer does reduce the concentration of airborne dust floating in a room, but it achieves this by changing where the dust settles rather than removing it from your home. When an ionizer emits negative ions, those ions transfer an electrostatic charge to floating dust particles, causing them to clump together into heavier clusters and fall out of the air onto your floors, furniture, and walls. While the air itself looks and measures clearer, the dust is merely relocated onto your room surfaces, often leaving stubborn dark smudge marks that require frequent manual cleaning and dusting. Unlike physical filters, ionizers do not trap or lock away the dust permanently.
