Many modern SPC flooring products come with a pre-attached acoustic or foam underlayment layer on the underside of each plank, which completely eliminates the need to purchase, handle, and install a separate underlayment material. However, if your selected SPC product lacks an attached backing, installing a dedicated thin moisture-barrier underlayment is highly recommended to improve sound reduction, enhance walking comfort, and smooth out minor subfloor imperfections before laying down the floor.
