Taysom Hill fulfilled a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Sydney, Australia, before embarking on his collegiate and professional football journey. Heavily recruited out of high school, he originally committed to play college football under Jim Harbaugh at Stanford University, but ultimately decided to pause his athletic pursuits to dedicate two full years entirely to religious and humanitarian service abroad. During this period, he spent time away from structured training and weights, focusing completely on his mission work. Upon returning home, he elected to enroll at Brigham Young University, where the football program was exceptionally accommodating to athletes returning from church missions, allowing him to reignite his football career.
