Generally, standard group travel insurance policies require all insured participants to depart from and return to the home country together, or follow a closely coordinated group itinerary to maintain valid coverage under the master contract. If individual members wish to arrive days early, extend their vacations independently, or visit entirely separate destinations outside the official group itinerary, they usually cannot do so under a standard group policy and must purchase separate individual travel insurance plans.
