You cannot replace a Moen 1225 cartridge with a 1222 cartridge, because they are engineered for entirely different valve architectures and serve distinct plumbing functions. The 1225 is designed for standard single-handle twisting and pulling faucets, whereas the 1222 is engineered exclusively for Moen Posi-Temp pressure-balancing shower valves that control water temperature and volume through rotational and pulling motions. Their physical dimensions, stem lengths, and internal port alignments are completely incompatible and cannot be interchanged.
