Investors cannot purchase the Swiss Market Index (SMI) directly as a single physical asset because it is a statistical stock market index tracking the twenty largest and most liquid Swiss equities. However, investors can easily gain direct financial exposure to the index by purchasing exchange-traded funds (ETFs), mutual funds, or derivative products that precisely replicate the performance of the underlying basket of constituent blue-chip companies, such as Nestlé, Novartis, and Roche, traded on the SIX Swiss Exchange.
