Wiping plant leaves with vinegar is generally a terrible idea and should be strictly avoided unless you specifically want to kill the plant. Vinegar contains acetic acid, which acts as a powerful non-selective natural herbicide capable of burning foliage, destroying plant cell membranes, and stripping away protective cuticles. While some gardening myths suggest wiping houseplant leaves with diluted vinegar to clean dust or shine foliage, soapy water or plain damp microfiber cloths are much safer alternatives.
