Financial experts generally suggest that paying for full collision and comprehensive car insurance is worth it when the vehicle's market value exceeds 3,000 to 5,000 dollars, or whenever the annual cost of adding full coverage is less than 10% of the total vehicle value. If your car is worth very little, spending hundreds of dollars a year on physical damage coverage provides diminishing returns because the maximum insurance payout will be heavily capped by the vehicle's low depreciation value anyway.
