The Pittsburgh Steelers are not currently paying Ben Roethlisberger any active salary or deferred bonus compensation. Following his official retirement from the National Football League at the conclusion of the 2021 season, his final multi-year contract expired, and all guaranteed payments, signing bonuses, and salary cap allocations associated with his playing career were fully settled. Modern NFL contracts dictate that once a player hangs up his cleats and his existing deal runs its course, the franchise has no further financial obligations regarding player compensation, leaving the salary cap completely clean of his former massive cap hits.
